what do you need to hear?
for the last few weeks I have started a new practice that I have been sharing with the groups I am blessed and privileged to work with in recovery and corrections. this practice only emerged through the hard reality and reward that my groups have been growing exponentially - I am so blessed! - where I used to work with 8-12 at a time has now somehow someway morphed into 25-27, and I used to hold one space - one -where the group size is dynamic and changes week to week is now 3 of those spaces, so… where I once was able to share those little thought-pop-able-cards (y’all who have been in spaces with me totally know what i’m trying to say here lol) and where I used to be able to share journals and notebooks more freely and frequently, now isn’t so accessible for my means, yet, totally adaptable with my magick (snap snap!).
Instead of purchasing the pop open cards with inspiring messages, I now make them… I use the paints I have on hand and cut in half a stack of note cards i’ve had with me since 2013 and use a jelly pad to just make some designs and swirls of colors, leaving each card unique and made with creative love and care.
the real magick though is how we have been creating the messages.
I bring the cards in blank and offer them an invitation to pick out when that speaks to them - all of them again being different, yet a little bit the same… after everyone is organized I gently guide them into a few breaths - simple, short, and sweet - and ask them to think about what it is - to feel into what it would be - to really consider what it is you with someone would say to you… what is it you really need to know and hear…and to trust whatever comes up for them and allow it to come alive with their pen, markers, whatever ink onto the note card in front of them - inviting them into a practice of compassionate and clear awareness - seeing that which they need to see, hear, feel, receive, right/write (hehehe) from their own hands and heart. I then share the insight that they will not be personally keeping the card and its message, instead, they are encouraged to offer it up and out to the community by placing it into a bowl I bring with me for these sorts of things. This expands us into detachment. This expands us into a deeper perception in as well as out because the words they will read, not only will offer them some sort of encouragement, some sort of acknowledgement of their truths, and as they receive that I remind them of the hard yet beautiful truth, there is someone right here right now besides you that needs to hear that too.
this practice has been unfolding for the last few weeks and is quickly becoming ritual. there’s a higher vibration to these home-made-hodge-podge and heart centered creations and it reminds me of so many beautiful things in a world of hierarchy, scarcity, and limit. my resources and the inability to share generously that which I used to, due to my classes increasing and my work amplifying - thank you thank you thank you - are the seeds that sparked this sharing. I could have stretched and stressed myself out and fixed into an idea that I gotta keep that mold or completely let it go, but instead innovation and creativity guided me. Resourcefulness guided me. and if it’s guiding me, it’s absolutely guiding you too.
what happens in the unfolding of these shares and it has only been beneficial in all ways it can. I really am blessed to be able to see and share in on the light we are, especially in spaces where the mind and fear wants us to believe its not there.
in hopes of you receiving that which you need to hear, I encourage you to take a few breaths, minutes, moments, and allow yourself to write down and witness the words of all you wish you could hear - and then do the really radical thing and hear it… feel it… receive it… and trust it is here. and maybe just maybe, return it in a way only you can and are called to. and if you are feeling unable, here are some messages i’ve been able to save and share in, so powerful, so simple, and so very clear…
all these messages hold a similar vibration and that is one of pure love. please also keep in mind that all ages and genders created these messages as well. A pure and powerful projection of our universal needs and the way love guides us there. regardless of the circumstances, we all need and deserve these messages and more.
