Hello dear reader,
Here I am, still greeting the fact that just this past Friday marked the finale of February, right at the cusp of the Pisces new moon—a time of feels for me. Really, when isn’t it? But these feels, they feel fertile, and in this fertile time, I’m faced over and over again with the question of what I want to grow—what I want to sow, and how I can keep flowing towards the knowing of our own liberation.
It feels like I am getting closer to my free, my freedom, while so many around me are being placed further from that nectar of truth. As I find my way and do the work that feeds me and my soul, I also grapple with the fear and overwhelm of asking, “What exactly am I doing?”
I am but one small drop in what feels like an endlessly empty bucket of water. The impacts of these years, these days, these times—what they do to our souls, to our spines, to our freedom—it’s overwhelming. Yet, I am continually folded over with both gratitude and grief. Faith, I hold on to that. But breath... it slips away. Just to be free is such a victory, such an internal vision of what could be... what should be... if the fragmented egos that hold the reins could surrender them.
But here’s the truth: there is a fight for freedom. It’s not an easy fight, and it’s not for the faint of heart. There’s a fight because they try to convince us we don’t deserve it. There’s a fight because those with fragile, unchecked egos have built a system that feeds on our subjugation. They’re doing everything they can to make sure we stay small, stay divided, stay distracted. Fuck that.
Fuck fascism. Fuck the lies. Fuck the mindset that our freedom is a privilege only for the few. Fuck any system that says we cannot be free. But here's the thing: we are still free—and yet, there is great work to do.
And still, I must find the peace woven within these fragments. I must find the focus amid all the friction—the mental strain, the chaos, and the realities I can’t even fathom are unfolding. Yet, we knew. We knew this was coming.
This past Friday, the meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky was not just an exchange of words; it was a fracture. A fragility in the system we are meant to trust. Trump, instead of standing with our allies in their fight for freedom, chose to escalate with demands that played into the hands of Russia. This exchange—this faltering of leadership—shook me to the core. It is heartbreaking to witness, but also, it is a clear reflection of a regime that is unraveling, that is faltering under its own fragility. The fight for truth, for democracy, for humanity is more urgent now than ever.
So, we stand. We do not flail. We do not fail. The people are moving forward—stronger, clearer, and more determined than ever before. Our power lies not in their fragility, but in our fortitude. It’s in the flesh of our resistance, in the flame of our commitment to something better, something more just. We are not passive. We are fierce in our pursuit of what is right, and we will flourish because we know what we are fighting for.
Fierce, fearless, and unwavering—we stand tall. I can’t promise perfection. I can’t promise we won’t continue to fail, but I do promise that I will hold firm in the face of this fucked-up conditioning with my heart wide open, my voice loud, my wings spread wide, and my faith—unshaken.
March is here. Now. This is not a time to wait, to hesitate, or to wonder if we can make a difference. The movement is happening. We are returning to life, to light, and to the deep knowing that we are here for full liberation—now. We move forward, we break free, we choose freedom, we choose better. This is our time.
And from the fierce lead of June Jordan's call:
“We are the ones we've been waiting for.”
"We are all united in our fight for freedom, and we shall not stop until all the chains are broken and the light of liberty shines for all." — Ukrainian Freedom Fighters
And for my folks out there who aren't understanding this is yoga... I need you to know…
This is yoga—the act of union, the practice of awareness in every thought, word, and action we take. The fight for freedom is rooted in the very essence of yoga: aligning our inner selves with the world, finding balance between what is, and what can be, through our commitment to truth, love, and justice. It’s not just about the postures we hold, but about the courage to stand firm in our truth. Yoga is about liberating ourselves from the systems that try to define us, and returning to the wholeness of who we are—connected, whole, and free.
