grief is grand, grief is finite
a poem and invitation into our pet loss grief circle and community
Grief is grand as well as finite.
It can feel as small as a drop,
and as destructive as dynamite.
It can brush you lightly,
hidden in plain sight.
It can knock you over
with all its might.
It can live and linger,
present and full;
it can succumb and hide,
unseen and null.
It can leave you breathless,
heavy upon your chest.
It can transform all life—
all that’s unspoken and expressed.
It can feel so infinite,
so vast, so deep.
It can change everything,
and make the terrain feel so steep.
Grief is love, and love is grief—
yet how often do we forsake the one,
when the one is all we need?
Grief changes the terrain of our hearts.
It can be as small as a drop or as vast as the sea.
It can transform everything — because at its core, grief is love.
Tomorrow, I’m honored to be co-holding Grief, Ground & Gratitude — a healing through pet loss circle and community space with my comrade in grief and compassion,
.We’ll gather online to honor the animals we love, miss, and cherish.
Through movement, breath, reiki, intuitive messages, and remembrance, we’ll hold space for healing and connection.
There’s one spot left if you feel called to join us.
Your grief, your love, your tenderness — all of it is welcome.
