“Bodhichitta is a Sanskrit word that means ‘noble or awakened heart.’ It is said to be present in all beings. Just as butter is inherent in milk and oil is inherent in a sesame seed, this soft spot is inherent in you and me.” -Pema Chödrön
this soft spot, within you and within me, is what I like to call our Warrior heart. the place where tenderness is alive with truthfulness. the space where our grief grounds and greets our joy. the space where sorrow swims and hope reigns. the space of absolute and essential love. and just as butter is inherent to milk I do believe and have seen and felt this power within me and within the world and it always always always gives me so much hope… igniting within me the resilience and resolve to continue continue continue opening my heart as softly and Sacredly as I can and being humbled and eager to be a mirror and messenger to all those around me that they can and must too.
in hopes of connecting with our warrior heart today I am offering you 3 questions that I continually come back and forth and forward to. these 3 questions have been a sort of anchoring into the center that is my heart and all it holds, all it knows, and all it feels. it has been a way to take care of my heart and honor it’s inherent and innate intelligence beyond that which my mind and ego likes to trick me to believe. the ideas that I ever could be not worthy of love. the ideas that anything I have done or haven’t done or have said or not said could keep me from love. the ideas that anyone is above me or anyone is below me. the illusions of separation that stain and shame our inheritance of this loving and absolute truth: I am loved for being me and you are loved for being you.
be it writing in your journal, be it walking through your day and our world, be it in a sit or in silence or even when the noise seems all too loud, I encourage you to contemplate and connect with these questions as they provide an awareness nothing outside of us can. I also ask that you are patient with yourself in the process of these questions and trust that which comes from your very heart and chest’s center. you’re wise dear one as well as oh so worthy of being in communication with the purest and most powerful parts of you, your warrior heart, your warrior love.
the questions are:
my heart needs
my heart grieves
my heart knows
we all have a warriors heart and in that space we have needs that are worthy of being met, grief that is necessary to be named, and intelligence that wants and wills to be present and alive- we just don’t always have the spaciousness or time to remember, reconnect with, and resurrect the wisdom and willingness from deep deep within that palace of love, power, and our ultimate potential. yet, here it is for you. will you take this opportunity to not just benefit your own heart’s beat, breadth, and bearings yet all that it is connected to?
from my warrior heart to your warrior heart I bow deeply and courageously for taking up some space in this contemplation, hopeful and eager for all that may come thanks to this work of love we are all here on this earth at this time of now to do.
