Hey hey, y’all…
I’m going to keep this as simple and sweet as I can today, as I’m tired and I have a feeling this feeling isn’t isolated to me. So, may we rest, may we recharge, and may we do something within our own means and abilities that feels like rest today, whether it’s a little or a lot. Can you please do yourself the ultimate favor and allow your body and mind some ease?
I will be resting. As I feel my eyes wanting to close and my heart remaining open, guiding me and reminding me, all of us need this friendly yet fierce reminder:
You are worthy of rest.
I am worthy of rest.
We are worthy of rest.
It is our birthright and should be a consistent and constant blessing. I apologize for “shoulding” us, but my goodness, it should be and can be so. If we release the mindsets that keep us pushing and pressing on even when our fuel is low, and if we let go of the belief that rest is laziness or that there isn’t enough time in the day to slow down, breathe, and simply be.
If you have the blessing, like me, to let go of the to-do list and simply rest in the way you need, I truly hope you do. I hope you do.
And if you have the blessing to extend space to someone else, I hope with all my tiredness and soul that you are generous with that power, influence, and ability. Leaders, create a culture that genuinely cares for needs. Teachers, demonstrate how it can and must be done. All of us, in relation to any other, do all you can to invite those bodies and beings, including your own, into the realm and practice of rest.
Be it a 5-minute sit, a 5-minute nap, canceling plans, lying down, or whatever you need. Rest, dear ones, for these times are exhausting. We all deserve this space to dream and return to who we are.
We are not productivity.
We are peace.
I’m going to put the phone and pressures down and simply allow myself to rest as I am. And dear one, I hope that and so much more for you too.
