some fun & freeing facts for this Friday
updates, insights, and invitations all in supports of us knowing our free
Hello dear Substack community,
I’m arriving in your inbox this Friday with some reflections, some resources, and some truth—all shared with the hope that something in here sets each of us just a little more free.
First, I want to say thank you. I’m so grateful for you, and for this platform that allows us to create from a place of alignment and authenticity. It’s been just over half a year since I stepped away from sharing on Facebook and Instagram, and I have to say—it’s been deeply liberating. That said, it hasn’t been without its fears. Leaving platforms that connected me with over 1,300 people felt like a huge leap. I knew I’d be letting go of proximity, visibility, and the familiar rhythm of sharing in those digital spaces. Substack still feels new to me, and I’m learning as I go.
But even with all the uncertainty, I knew I needed space. Space to hear my own voice. Space to share what’s real without the noise. Space to breathe deeper into my writing, into this vision of creating work from the heart—and offering healing in ways that also honor the possibility of right livelihood. My compass has never been currency, and I’m not here to take. But these months off the metta-grid have taught me that receiving is a necessary part of the rhythm too. And the more I open to that, the more clearly my pulse, my purpose, and my path come into view.
So thank you—yes, you. Thank you for being here with me.
In just over a year, I’ve grown my readership and earned my first $1,000 from my writing and content alone. That’s a big milestone for this little fish in the big sea. Whether you’re a paid subscriber or a quiet supporter who simply reads and resonates, your presence here means more than you know. You keep me going. You remind me that sharing truth matters. And if this space has offered you insight, inspiration, or support, I humbly ask that you consider sharing it with those who you think could benefit—even those far outside its proximity. Whether it’s my work or this global community of creators here on Substack, the more we share, the more we grow together. And again, from my heart—thank you.
These times are scary, yet I do hope we can live in a way that keeps us as unafraid as possible and with the gusto to keep pushing past the illusions of ignorance and what feels like the dismantling of our democracy. Maybe this is the time where we let things fall and fade away, while also rising to the occasion to create. To create more resources, to create more connection, to create more spaces and sanctuaries where we can come together in our humanness and remember we have the power to transcend our own fates.
I’ll always be the first to admit I absolutely do not know what I am doing. There is so much I still have to learn. And yet, even in all of that, I know I can trust my heart. I know I can listen, lead, and leverage all the ways my heart breaks and breathes, knowing we are worthy of so much better. We are each here at this time, these moments, this madness, made on purpose—with great purpose—and that is my greatest intention: to ensure we are lifting ourselves and one another up, leaving a legacy of love in all that we do.
Which brings me to the first fun fact I want to share with you today: I’ll be sharing space for yoga tomorrow at The Hive. Set your alarms, invite someone you love, and feel free to show up exactly as you are. We’ll meet at 10am to ground in, greet what’s present, and reclaim what’s possible through our peace, through ourselves, and through one another.
Right now, The Hive is just beginning to come to life. Please be mindful that the sign out front currently doesn’t say The Hive—it’s a red arborist sign, which you’ll see pictured below. Our space is on the border of Sanford and Midland on Saginaw Rd. Depending on which direction you’re coming from, it’s either just past the bowling alley or just before it. Mats are available on-site, and there’s room for all who seek conscious, caring community.
I used to say all were welcome, but what I’m finding—and feeling—is that we need more spaces for those who tend to feel out of place. For those of us who want to share in the realness and rawness of the human experience, while also centering around the soul, the spirit, and the light within us all. I feel the need to shift from “all are welcome” and instead call in those who need a place where the nervous system can settle, grounded in an agreement of safety, diversity, and understanding.
I could not have created this space alone. It’s thanks to all those who have found me over the last 10 years, through many fragments and changes, holding public practices and witnessing the needs within our community. If you’re feeling the call, the buzz, the opportunity for unity, know you can meet me and our community there tomorrow. This Saturday and next Saturday will be our final practices at 10am. Starting in May, we’re shifting to a 9am start time.
And now, my next fun fact: Yoga is a practice—a pathway, an intersection of both science and spirituality. It offers us frameworks, ethics, and moral codes for freedom and justice—both within ourselves and in the world. I feel the division we’re facing, as well as the reckoning and awakening to the realization that we need each other, deserve each other, and are the very ones to cultivate that capacity.
What we’re living through right now is so much more than politics. So much more than red or blue, them or us. It comes down to our principles, our values, and the way we see ourselves and everything outside of us. Yoga is more than the shapes we make with our body. It’s the awareness of everything we do, say, and think. It’s the recognition that everything matters and has an impact.
When you consider what this practice is about, I want you to know it is freedom. It is justice. It is returning to our birthright of joy, abundance, and peace. I see so many people clinging to political allegiance and ideals rooted in ignorance, individualism, hate, and hierarchy. Yoga burns all of that down and gives us the perception to see our interconnectedness—to recognize that we are not separate, but in full sync with one another. Yoga is transparent in the truth that I am not free if you are not free, and you are not free if I am not free. It tears down the blocks and barriers of what we’ve accepted and tolerated and takes us on a journey to embody freedom.
Below, I’ll share the full path of yoga —the first two limbs are the frameworks and guidance towards a discipline that can actually set us free.
One of those frameworks is Ishvara Prandihana, devotion to something higher. We place all that we do in the direction of divinity, consciousness, or the God of our own understanding. I want you to know, everything I do is in hopes of that Higher. And yet, I humbly know I am also human.
It’s not always easy to wake up to the ways we’ve been indoctrinated into beliefs that no longer serve us. It can feel like a jolt to our systems when we start realizing that those we thought had our best interest at heart were actually feeding us poison—generating fear in our bodies and minds for the sake of their agenda. It’s disorienting. It feels disgusting. But, we can’t let it keep us from love—the pure, potent, powerful love that connects us to ourselves, to God, and to each other.
The Universe loves us all. Many bypass the power we hold in our hands. Yes, prayer is important. But also: how are you voting? Where are you placing your attention? Who’s getting your money? How do you see yourself—and those around you? Miracles are real, but they’re also made from the movements, mindsets, and decisions we make in a fatigued, fear-driven world.
Know that love doesn’t have limits. We all have work to do when it comes to dismantling the places within us that stay stagnant, tied to one way of thinking. There is no singular truth. Diversity and dynamics are our birthrights too.
And now, my final fun—and hopefully freeing—fact for this Friday: I am now taking appointments for Reiki in person at The Hive! Sessions are available Saturdays from 11am to 1:30pm and can be scheduled for 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The pricing is based on the length of the session, but here’s the thing: you aren’t paying for the Universal medicine. You’re paying for my time and energy shared.
Reiki is an ancient, intelligent, and conscious energy that can do no harm. It was one of the first healing practices to help me feel the light again—maybe even for the first time after the deep void of losing my parents. I’ve had to work through my own internal struggle about how to share Reiki in a way that feels aligned with my values. I can’t charge for the medicine itself, but I can receive for the time and energy spent in service to others. If this is something you’d like to experience, please reach out!
Finally, I’m honored to be holding another pet loss grief circle on Sunday, April 27th at 1pm EST on Zoom with my comrade in compassion,
.Grief isn’t just about loss—it’s about the love that’s been shared and the fear that rises when we don’t know what’s next. And grief often arrives in waves, not neatly packaged and not always easy to name. But grief, in all its forms, deserves the space to be witnessed and held. This intimate, intentional space welcomes up to 8 participants, and all pet grief is welcome. Grief is dynamic, just like us, and we’re here to hold space for it all.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for being a part of this purposeful community. Thank you for allowing me to show up in my fullness and share with you. If something here speaks to your soul, let it move through you. Pass it on. Come to class. Book a session. Share the love. You are part of this pulse. And I’m so grateful.
Take care of yourselves—and one another.
With gratitude,
